Obituary

Obituary Winona Russell Edds Tunnell, born April 2, 1931, passed away from this world on May 4, 2019, at her home in Farragut, and went to her eternal home to be with her Savior, Jesus Christ. She was the daughter of the late Morgan Dale Edds and Ina Russell Edds of Hagan, VA. She is preceded in death by her husband, Hilton Tunnell originally from Memphis, TN and her son, Michael Tunnell of Louisville, KY. She is survived by her daughter in law, Meme Tunnell of Louisville, KY; daughter, Virginia Williams (Steve) of Farragut, TN; son, Charles David Tunnell (Cathy) of Palm Bay, FL; She is also survived by her grandchildren whom she adored and was so proud: Morgan Snyder (Eric) of Louisville, KY; Sarah Smith (Brett) of Farragut, TN; Robert Tunnell of Louisville, KY; Steven Williams (Denise) of Vancouver, WA; Michael Williams (Molly) of Knoxville, TN; Caitrin Williams of Knoxville, TN; Catie Simonton (Mike) of Atlanta, GA; Andrew Tunnell (Annabell) of Dallas, TX; Jeffrey, Abigail, Hannah, Rachel, Leah, and Jonathan Tunnell of Palm Bay, FL; and nine great-grandchildren: Simon, Mikey, and Felix Snyder; Emory, Sloan, and Lilah Grace Smith; Bear and Wilder Williams; and Wyatt Williams. Winona was a member of Glenwood Baptist Church in Powell. She was an avid reader, gardener, cultivator of blueberries and roses, and a wonderful cook. Her favorite hobby after suffering a stroke several years ago was bird watching. Her faith in Jesus kept her strong. The family extends our gratitude to her loving caregivers, Wendy King and Brenda Morton, that took such good care of her for almost 4 years. She was a caring and loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Services will be on Thursday, August 8, at 4:00 pm at Hardys Creek Baptist Church off Burning Well Rd in Hagan, VA, followed by burial at the King family cemetery on Hwy 58. Province Funeral Home of Pennington Gap handling the arrangements for the family. DIRECTIONS FROM KNOXVILLE Taking I-75 North out of Powell TO HARDY'S CREEK BAPTIST CHURCH . Take I-75 North out of Knoxville from Powell for about 45 minutes . Take Caryville, LaFollette, Jacksoboro exit # 134 of I-75 North, right at end of ramp at red light toward Caryville, LaFollette, Jacksboro . Straight for about 35 minutes until you come to red light at LMU on your left, interescting Cumberland Gap Parkway . Turn left at red light and then go straight past LMU on your left toward Cumberland Gap Take exit toward to your right to Hwy 58 East (Wilderness Trail) towards Jonesville,VA . Continue straight for about 30 minutes until you see Davis Brothers Nursery past city of Rose Hill on your right . After passing Davis Brothers Nursery take left on Buring Well Road just before a large bridge in front of you (only about 1/4 mile) . Stay on Buring Well Road past white two-story house on the right, road curves to the right around the white house, go straight a short distance to Hardy's Creek Baptist Church on your left.
