Wilma Dean Smith age 65 of Big Stone Gap, VA was born in the Robbins Chapel Community of Keokee, VA on Thursday, May 18, 1950 and passed away Thursday, July 16, 2015 at the Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport, TN. She was preceded in death by her parents Curt and Ruby Stapleton, a sister Sherry Cooke and a brother Wayne Stapleton. Wilma is survived by her husband William Smith of the home, sons Steve Smith of Omaha, NE and Jeremy Smith and wife, Heather of Big Stone Gap, VA and a daughter Victoria Smith of Big Stone Gap, VA. She is also survived by her grandchildren Kristi Smith, Derek Smith, Taylor Smith and Trey Smith, one great-grandchild Colin Smith, brothers Jimmy Stapleton of Kingsport, TN and Billy Stapleton of Church Hill, TN, a sister Pat Kelly of Kingsport, TN, half brother Franklin Cooke of Clinton, TN and a half-sister Lisa Deitz of Clinton, TN. A funeral service will be held at 8:00 pm Sunday, July 19, 2015 at the Province Funeral Home Sanctuary in Pennington Gap, VA with Paul Davis, Jr. officiating. Visitation will be from 6:00 pm Sunday until the time of the service. A graveside service will be at 2:00 pm Monday at Powell Valley Memorial Gardens in Big Stone Gap, VA. Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 1:00 pm Monday to go to the cemetery.
