William "Bill" Roger Smith, 80, of Keokee went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 8, 2024 in Lexington, Kentucky.

Bill was born on May 6, 1944 in Lee County, Virginia. He was a retired coal miner for over 38 years. Bill honorably served his country in the United State Army. Bill loved his family and cherished them more than anything.

Bill is preceded in death by his wife, Judy Woodard Smith; parents, Lloyd C. Smith Sr. and Rachel Mae Healen; brother, Lloyd C. Smith Jr.; and sisters, Julia Smith Parsons and Barbara Wright.

Those left to cherish his memory are his son, Mark Smith; grandchildren, Harper, Piper, Connor, and Karli; brother, Allan Smith and wife, Shirley; special nephews, Toby Smith and Aaron Smith; special dog, Peanut; along with several nieces, nephews, and friends.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Friday, October 11, 2024 at Pennington Gap Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow with Pastor Paul Davis, Jr. and Pastor Leonard Lane officiating.

A committal service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, October 12, 2024 at Lee Memorial Gardens with Pastor Paul Davis, Jr. officiating and family and friends serving as pallbearers. Military honors will be provided by VFW Post 5715 and Virginia Army National Honor Guard. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the funeral home by 9:15 AM to go in procession.

The family would like to express a special thank you for the life saving efforts of Angie Gray and her heroism and efforts to help Bill.
