Obituary William David McAlister, 83, of Jonesville went to be with the Lord and the love of his life on Saturday, March 4, 2023 at his daughters home surrounded by his family. William was born on November 2, 1939 in Lee County, Virginia. He worked as a roofer for over 40 years until his retirement. William was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, and friend. William is preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Lue McCann McAlister; parents, Bill and Nannie Childs McAlister; sons, Billy Joe McAlister, Randy Lee McAlister, Jesse Allen McAlister; siblings, Vergie Webb, Theda Stapleton, Cleo Newton, Bill McAlister, Bob McAlister, and Johnny McAlister. Those left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Mary Jones and husband Danny, Evelyn Lawson, and Jessie Mullins and husband Charlie; sons, DJ McAlister and Christopher Lawson and wife Rebecca; daughter in law, Leslie McAlister; along with several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at 3:00 PM on Tuesday, March 7, 2023 at Murdy Cemetery in Jasper, Virginia with Dakota Seals officiating. Pallbearers will be Charlie Mullins, Eli Lawson, Christopher Lawson, William Calton, RJ McAlister, and Joey McAlister. The family would like to express a special thank you to Joey McAlister for all of his assistance to Mr. McAlister over the years.
