William Douglas "W.D." Cox age 62 of Jonesville, VA, was born in Lee County, VA on Sunday, March 28, 1954 and passed away Sunday, September 4, 2016 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was a disabled coal miner, a member of the U.M.W.A and of the Holiness Faith. W.D. enjoyed logging, welding , working with scrap metal and spending time with family. He was preceded in death by his wife Claretta Cox, parents Robert and Louella Cox and thirteen brothers and sisters. W.D. is survived by two sons Dee Cox and Michael Cox both of Jonesville, VA, three daughters Shannon Cox and boyfriend, Bobby Webb of Pennington Gap, VA, Rebecca Cox and fianc, Manny Chavarria of Dryden, VA and Amy Cox and fianc, Dave Rivers of Jonesville, VA. He is also survived by four grandchildren Amber, Amanda and Jeffrey Estep and Jaxon Rivers, two brothers Donnie Cox and wife, Robin of Woodway, VA and Herman Cox and wife, Mary Jane of Pennington Gap, VA and one sister Juanita Smith of Noblesville, IN. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm Thursday, September 8, 2016 at the Province Funeral Home Sanctuary in Pennington Gap, VA with Jim Ewing officiating. Burial will follow at the Pennington Memorial Cemetery in Pennington Gap, VA. Visitation will be from 12:00 noon Thursday until the time of the service.
