Wayne Scott, age 72, of Pennington Gap, VA went to be with the Lord Thursday afternoon, June 15, 2023 after a lengthy illness while at the Norton Community Hospital. He was born December 12, 1950 in Pathfork Kentucky a son of the late Ernest Hershel and Lillie Cooper Scott. He was a former coal miner having worked in various mines in the area, but was employed for 20 years at Lee Regional Hospital in Pennington before his retirement. He was of the Pentecostal faith.

Including his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers: Roger Scott and Arnold David Scott. Sister: Constance "Connie" Johnson

He is survived by his loving Wife of 47 wonderful years: Sandra Scott

2 Brothers: Ernest " Bub" Scott, Jr (Pauline) and Roy Scott and fiancé Brenda McCracken

2 Sisters: Carolyn Mills and Wanda Gibson

Sister in Law: Betty Scott

Several Nieces, Nephews and cousins also survive along with a host of friends.

The family will receive friends Monday, June 19, 2023 from 5 until 7 pm. at the Pennington Gap Funeral Home, 42098 E. Morgan Ave., Pennington Gap VA. The funeral will be Tuesday afternoon, June 20, 2023 at 1 pm in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Jimmy Ewing and Rev. Johnathan Jones officiating. Burial will follow in the Pennington Memorial Cemetery, US Highway 421, Pennington Gap, VA. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

The family wishes to extend a sincere thanks to the Staff's of Lee Community and Norton Community Hospitals along with the Hospice team who gave great care and support. Also, Tim Daniels, Jeff Neal and Eddie Thomas along with anyone who helped and sent prayers during this time.
