Walter G. Garrett, 85, of Pennington Gao, VA was born in Lee County, VA on Thursday, January 12, 1939 and passed away, on Friday, November 1, 2024 at his residence.

Walter had proudly served his country as a Veteran of the U.S. Marines where he was in Boot Camp in 1956 at Paris Island, S.C. and served in Japan. He is also a member of the Cornerstone Baptist Church.

Walter was preceded in death by his parents, Bill G. and Mary Jane Gibson Garrett; daughter, Lorie Garrett; and brothers, Robert, Elmer, Sam, Arthur, and Frank Garrett.

Walter is survived by his sons, David Lynn Garrett and wife, Tracy of Jonesville, VA, Michael Gene Garrett and wife, Stephanie of Martinsville, IN; step-daughter, Evelyn Rose Pease of Dryden, VA; step-son, Douglas Ray Fannon of Jonesville, VA; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and step-grandchildren; and his brother, Jack Garrett of Pennington Gap, VA.

A military graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, November 6, 2024 at Lee Memorial Gardens with Pastor Paul Davis, Jr. officiating. Military honors will be provided by VFW Post 5715. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery by 12:45 PM.
