Obituary

Vivian "Elaine" Tabor Lambert Hines, born on March 17, 1963, in Pennington Gap, VA departed this world on November 3, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, courage, and joy. She fought a valiant battle against cancer, ultimately finding peace at Valley Nursing Home, where she was cared for with exceptional compassion.

Elaine was the cherished daughter of the late Hermita Lynn "BeeGee" Ingle Tabor and Charles Lee Tabor, Sr. and the wife of the late Mark Hines. Her maternal grandparents were the late Herman Ingle and Edna "June" Johnson Ingle and paternal grandparents were the late Hubert Tabor and Pauline Parsons Tabor. She is lovingly remembered by her only son, Benjamin Ryan Lambert of Kyles Ford, TN and only granddaughter, Cadence Lambert also of Kyles Ford, TN who brought immense joy to her life. Elaine's love for her family was boundless, and she spoke of them with pride and affection, her face lighting up at the mere mention of their names. Also, left to cherish her memory are her brothers, Charles Lee "Chuck" Tabor, Jr. (Debbie) of Olney, Illinois and Timothy R. "Tim" Tabor of Pennington Gap, VA along with a host of wonderful nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.

Elaine was a proud graduate of Jonesville High School in 1981 where she loved being on the Flag Corp in the JHS Marching Band along with her friends. Elaine embarked on a diverse career in retail sales management. Her journey began at Magic Mart, followed by a managerial role at Fashion Cents. Her dedication and leadership skills saw her rise to the position of District Manager at Family Dollar in Tazewell, TN. Later, Elaine worked as bookkeeper at Russell's Sawmill. After retiring Elaine found fulfillment in caring for the elderly, forming a particularly close bond with Dot Patterson, a dear friend's mother.

Elaine's faith was a cornerstone of her life; she embraced Christianity at a young age and attended church in Lee County when she could. Her spiritual beliefs provided her with strength and comfort throughout her life. She had a vibrant personality, known for her unique sense of humor and love for practical jokes. She was a beacon of encouragement to those around her, offering support and kindness with a generous heart. Her "giggle" which she inherited from her Mom was infectious, and her stories about family and friends were treasured moments that highlighted her fondness of reminiscing.

In her leisure time, Elaine found joy in watching old movies, westerns, and comedies, and she had a passion for reading. She cherished moments spent flipping through family photo albums, sharing tales of her grandparents and their rich histories. These stories were a testament to her deep appreciation for her roots and the life she built around them.

Elaine's family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the Staff at Valley Nursing Home in Chilhowie, VA for their exceptional care and compassion during her final days.

Elaine's life was a testament to love, resilience, and the joy of living. Her memory will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her, and her legacy will continue to inspire those she touched during her journey.

In keeping with Elaine's wishes, funeral arrangements will be private.
