Obituary

Virginia Ann Lankford-Dillman, born August 14, 1944, in Plymouth, England, passed away peacefully on November 22, 2025, in Middlesboro, Kentucky. Though born overseas, she made her lifelong home in Rose Hill, Virginia, where she built a life filled with love, creativity, and family.

Virginia was a gifted pianist, a talented photographer, and a devoted artist. Her creativity touched everyone who knew her, and her gentle spirit made her beloved by many. She carried a deep and enduring love for her husband, Jack Dillman, who passed away one year before her. Their bond was profound, and her passing from broken heart syndrome reflects the devotion they shared throughout their lives.

She is survived by her two daughters, Velvet Ledford and Jacque Dillman, and her son-in-law, Christopher Moore, and by her cherished grandson, Jack Sebastian Ledford. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Carrie Daman; a brother-in-law Mike Dillman; and numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom loved her dearly.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Dillman; her parents, James Carl and Gloria M. Lankford; her son-in-law, John Ledford; and her grandparents, Ira and Harve Lankford, along with Edith and John Reading.

At her request, no services will be held.

Virginia will be remembered for her warmth, her artistry, her unshakable love for her family, and the quiet strength she carried throughout her life.

"My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever." — Psalm 73:26

"Give sorrow words; the grief that does not speak knits up the o-erwrought heart and bids it break."

Virginia Ann Lankford-Dillman and her family are in the care of Powell Valley Funeral Home.
