Tony Jerome Rivers, 76, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 12, 2025 at his home in Pennington Gap, Virginia.

Tony was born on May 11, 1948 in Keokee, Virginia to the late Ralph and Bernice Rivers. He was a welder at Duke Power for 23 years. Tony was an avid outdoorsmen, he loved fishing and working on his vehicles.

Along with his parents, Tony is preceded in death by his brother, Michael Rivers.

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 54 years, Gwen Dennison Rivers; son, Anthony Boyd Rivers of Pennington Gap, VA; daughter, Jennifer Rivers Punch (Chris) of Newton, NC; 3 brothers, Garner Rivers of Thailand, Hank Rivers and Jerry Rivers of Greensboro, NC; 3 sisters, Bonnie Johnson of Stokesdale, NC, Watanna Slovak and husband John of Kernersville, NC, Jeta Rivers Burke and husband Chris of Summerfield, NC; grandchildren, who were the joy his life, Kayla Shaw and husband Michael of Huntersville, NC, Jacob Isaac Punch and wife Tiffany of Maiden, NC; along with a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A private burial will be held for Tony Rivers and a memorial service will be announced at a later date with Pastor Paul Davis Jr., officiating the services.
