It is with profound love and deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Stephen Edward Surgener. Our beloved father and friend passed away peacefully on May 23rd at Nova Health and Rehab, surrounded by the warmth of his family.

Born in Kingsport, Tennessee on December 2nd, 1974, to Ronald (Steve) and Brenda Surgener, Stephen was a man with an unforgettable sense of humor. He spent most of his time farming or riding his motorcycle.

Above all, Stephen’s greatest legacy was his family. He is survived by his loving children, Bryan Surgener (Debra) and Alex Surgener. He instilled in us the value of hard work and the importance of always showing up for the people we love when they need it. We will forever miss the way he never failed to make someone smile.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Amy Surgener (Bauman), and grandparents Abe and Thelma Surgener, along with Glen and Opal Muncy.

Stephen will be laid to rest on Thursday, May 28th at 11:00 a.m. at 1034 Rhea Resnick Rd., Duffield, VA 24263. All who knew and loved him are welcome to come. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery by 10:45 am.

You were a light and joy to be around. Rest easy. We will love you always and carry your joy with us forever.
