Obituary Shirley Ann Richards, age 84, passed away on April 28, 2021. She was born December 7th, 1936 in St. Charles, VA to Jessie and Edith McElyea. She married the love of her life, Billy Lynn Richards on July 18, 1954 in Gate City, VA and together moved to Indianapolis in 1965. Shirley was called mumum and enjoyed spending time with her family and her dog, Princess. She loved working as a nurse at Methodist hospital, preparing big family Thanksgiving and Christmas meals (served on Christmas dishes), shopping and visiting with her beloved Kroger family (Madison and Edgewood) in Indianapolis, IN and sharing stories about "down home in Virginia". Shirley is survived by her daughters Cheryl Mauritz and Beverly Cranfill; her grandchildren Krysti McGuire, William Matthew Flint, Morgan Gray, Allen Cranfill, David Richards, Michael McGuire and Kaitlynn Richards; her great grandchildren Jalyn Gray, Madalyn Gray, Nolyn Gray, Alyssa Gray, Morgan Gray, Layla Cranfill, Jayda Cranfill, Elijah Cranfill; her great granddaughter Cheyenne McGuire, her great-great granddaughter Zoeylyn McGuire and her brother and his wife Bobby and Jackie McElyea. Her parents and husband all preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her son, Michael Richards, her grandson William Gray, her great- granddaughter Paige McGuire, and her brother Hershel McElyea. Shirley will be laid to rest at Lee Memorial Gardens Cemetery on May 6, 2021. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.provincefuneralhome.com.
