Sam Henry Garrett age 76 of Pennington Gap, VA was born Wednesday, April 23, 1941 in Pennington Gap, VA and passed away Sunday, July 16, 2017 at the Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport, TN. Sam attended Beacon Light Baptist Church, was a farmer and a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge. He is preceded in death by his parents Bill and Mary Jane Garrett, brothers Elmer, Robert and Arthur "Ott" Garrett and a sister Elizabeth Garrett. Sam is survived by his wife Reba Garrett of the home, one daughter Robin Lynn Garrett of Pennington Gap, VA, sons Shannon Garrett of Pennington Gap, VA and David Mencer of Pennington Gap, VA, four grandchildren Shakeila Deitz, Ariel Deitz, Damian Deitz, and Bob Leonard, one great-grandchild Jace Deitz. He is also survived his brothers Walter Garrett and wife, Geraldine of the Long Hollow Community, Jack Garrett of Woodway, VA, Frank Garrett and wife, Mary of Woodway, VA. A funeral service will be held at 8:00 PM Friday, July 21, 2017 at the Province Funeral Home Sanctuary in Pennington Gap, VA with Rev. Chris Myers officiating. Visitation will be from 6:00 PM Friday until the time of the service. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Woodway. Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:00 AM Saturday to go to the cemetery.
