Sally Owens age 71 of the Hubbard Springs Community in Jonesville, VA was born in Lee County, VA on Thursday, December 2, 1943 and passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side after a courageous battle with cancer at Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport, TN on Sunday, October 4, 2015. She had been a homemaker and a member of the Seven Springs Baptist Church. Sally enjoyed attending church, spending time with her family and friends, and attending community gatherings. She was preceded in death by her husband Edward Owens, daughter Melissa Woodard, parents Clarence Lawson and Ilene Parsons, brothers Walter, Billy and Wayne Lawson and a sister Phyllis Carroll. Sally is survived by a son Edward 'Cub' Owens of the home, her daughters Regina Garrett and husband, Paul of Pennington Gap, VA, Janet Bright and husband, Tony of Hiltons, VA and Julie Johnson of Pennington Gap, VA. She is also survived by four grandchildren Ashley Carmony and husband, Mike of Coeburn, VA, Luke Baker of Hiltons, VA, Kayla Bright of Hiltons, VA and Gabby Johnson of Pennington Gap, VA, two brothers Jimmie Lawson and wife, Nancy, Pete Lawson and wife, Katie all of the Hubbard Springs Community, one sister Wanda Beagle and husband, George of Seattle, WA, several nieces and nephews, special friend Ralph Robbins and special caregivers Sue Lawson and David Huffman. The funeral service will be held at 8:00 PM Wednesday, October 7, 2015 at the Province Funeral Home Sanctuary in Jonesville, VA with Paul Davis, Jr. and Larry Wolfe officiating. Visitation will be from 6:00 PM Wednesday until the time of the service. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday at the Bethel Cemetery on Sugar Run in Jonesville, VA. Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:00 AM Thursday to go to the cemetery.
