Ruth Ann Pennington, Ben Hur, VA, February 7, 1931 - December 23, 2017, was born and raised in Ben Hur, VA to Dan and Ada (Wilson) Flanigan. Ruth moved to Church Hill, TN in the mid 50s and then moved to the Reeds Creek Community of Keokee, VA in 1962. She moved back to Ben Hur in 1997. She was a member of the Belchers Chapel Baptist Church and attended until she was no longer able to go. Ruth was a strong woman that always took care of her children and grandchildren. She always had time for all of us. She was very active until her 80s. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Pennington; her son, Scott Pennington; her parents; her sisters, Mary Disney, Lillie Sexton, Helen Sprinkle, Minnie Stapleton and her brothers, Coy, John (Jay), Herman, Don (Buster) and Carl. She is survived by one son, Daniel Pennington and wife, Barbara of Ben Hur, VA and one daughter, Aletha Tomlinson and her fiancee` Roger Gardner of Dryden, VA. She is also survived by one sister and best friend, Lula Johnson of Mt. Carmel, TN; one brother, Kenneth Flanigan and wife Ramona of Marion, IN; also eight grandchildren, Amy, Angie, Danny, Crystal, Jason, Megan, Clint, Breann and fourteen great-grandchildren. Visitation will begin at 11:00 AM and conclude with funeral services starting at 1:00 PM Thursday, December 28, 2017 in the Province Funeral Home Sanctuary in Pennington Gap with Paul Davis Jr officiating. Burial will follow at Church Hill Memory Gardens in Church Hill, TN. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
