Russell Smith age 70 of Dryden, VA was born in Clay County, KY on Sunday, March 18, 1945 and passed away Tuesday, August 18, 2015 at the Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport, TN. Russell had been a security guard foreman for a coal mines in Kentucky and was a member of the Freewill Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents Raymond and Gracie Smith, brothers Jimmy, Paul and Johnny Smith and his sisters June Smith, Joyce Pearson and Mossie McKinney. Russell is survived by his wife Thelma Smith of the home, one son Pete Mack of Dryden, VA and one daughter Edna Mack of Orlando, FL. He is also survived by three grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, three brothers Mark Smith, Roy Smith, and Lester Smith all of Anville, KY, two sisters Mary McKinney and Christine Williams both of Anville, KY and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 12:00 noon until the time of the service on Monday. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, August 24, 2015 at the Province Funeral Home Sanctuary with Paul Davis, Jr. and Don Lambert officiating.
