Rufus Mitchell Brock Sr., 79, of Appalachia went to be with the Lord on Monday, November 4, 2024 at Johnston Memorial Hospital.

Rufus was born on May 5, 1945 in Harlan, Kentucky to the late Steve Brock and Callie Mae Short Brock. Rufus was a loving husband, caring father, devoted grandfather, and proud brother.

Along with his parents he is preceded in death by his brothers, Elmo Brock, Gene Brock, Ronnie Kester, Donnie Brock, Bobby Brock, and Roy Brock; sister, Faye Clark.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 57 years, Retha Brock; sons, Rufus Brock Jr and wife Jennifer, and Anthony Holmes; daughters, Melissa Stipes and husband Bill, Linda Peace and husband Chris, and Jennifer Garrett; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; brother, Lonnie Brock and wife Lisa; sister, Geraldine Perkins and husband Johnny; along with several nieces and nephews.

Per his wishes he will be cremated with no formal services.
