Rosco Chester "RC" Lane, age 66 of Gate City, VA passed away early Friday Morning, September 18, 2026 following a lengthy illness with his family by his side.

RC was a avid outdoorsman and worked as a carpenter most of his life, mainly with Ronnie Tipton Construction. He was a beloved father and grandfather and friend to many. He was of the Baptist faith.

A lifelong resident of Scott County, VA, he was born a son of the late Wrightley Kermit and Gladys Esther (Hammonds) Lane on March 14, 1960. He is also preceded in death by a brother; Danny Marshall Lane. Half siblings; Maddie Faye Lane, Claudia Mae Lane, Iva Nell Wheat, Edith Kate Darnell and James Edward Lane.

His survivors include his children; Kristy Dockery (Jason), Joshua Lane and wife Amanda and Christopher Lane. Grandchildren; Austin Dockery, Dakota Dockery, Isabella Dockery, Kaylee Dockery, Hunter Fritz, Ethan Lane, Allison Lane and Addison Lane. Brothers; Kermit Lane and Kenneth Lane and wife Trish. Sister; Patricia Lane Hensley and husband Jay. Special lifelong friend; Karen Lane. Several nieces, nephews, cousins and other family also survive along with many friends and his co-workers.

Grave Side services will be held on Monday, September 21, 2026 at 2 PM in the Carter Cemetery, 275 Heavens View Lane, Gate City, VA with Pastor Wayne Thomas officiating. It is requested that family and friends meet at the cemetery by 1:50 PM for the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the funeral home to offset the expense.
