Rosco Chester "RC" Lane, age 66 of Gate City, VA passed away early Friday Morning, September 18, 2026 following a lengthy illness with his family by his side.

RC was a avid outdoorsman and worked as a carpenter most of his life, mainly with Ronnie Tipton Construction. He was a beloved father and grandfather and friend to many. He was of the Baptist faith.

A lifelong resident of Scott County, VA, he was born a son of the late Wrightley Kermitt and Gladys Esther (Hammonds) Lane on March 14, 1960. He is also preceded in death by a brother; Danny Marshall Lane. Half siblings; Maddie Faye Lane, Claudia Mae Lane, Iva Nell Wheat, Edith Kate Darnell and James Edward Lane.

His survivors include his children; Kristy Dockery (Jason), Joshua Lane and wife Amanda and Christopher Lane. Grandchildren; Austin Dockery, Dakota Dockery, Isabella Dockery, Kaylee Dockery, Hunter Fritz, Ethan Lane, Allison Lane and Addison Lane. Brothers; Kermitt Lane and Kenneth Lane and wife Trish. Sister; Patricia Lane Hensley and husband Jay. Special lifelong friend; Karen Lane. Several nieces, nephews, cousins and other family also survive along with many friends and his co-workers.

Grave Side services will be held on Monday, September 21, 2026 at 2 PM in the Carter Cemetery, Hill Station Ridge, Gate City, VA with Pastor Wayne Thomas officiating. Pallbearers will be friends and family. It is requested that family and friends meet at the cemetery by 1:50 PM for the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.
