Richard Garfield Hubbard, Sr., 81, of Pennington Gap went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 5, 2023 at Ballad Health Hospice House.

Richard was born on October 16, 1942 in Wagner Town, Virginia to the late James Rufus and Bess Mullins Hubbard. Richard proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for 21 years before his retirement. He retired from the Kentucky Community Technical College as an Assistant Professor. He was a lifetime member of Lee County Rescue Squad. A member of SBCV Disaster Relief. A proud and active member of First Baptist Church of St Charles serving the church in many capacities and he loved the Lord with all his heart and wanted nothing more than to lead people to him. Richard was a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and friend.

Along with his parents Richard is preceded in death by his first wife, Jimmie Lou Hubbard of 43 years; second wife, Lois Hubbard of 4 years; sisters, Sue Stapleton and Jane Garrett; brother, Rev. James "Jim" Hubbard; and son, Steve Belcher.

Those left to cherish his memory are his sons, Richard "Rich" Hubbard, Jr. and James Hubbard and wife, Ladonna; daughter, Mary Gosh and husband, Jerry; children, Joseph Belcher, Lindsay Nunley (Michael), and Ada Ewing (Jimmy); grandchildren, Rosie (Douglas), Norman (Austin-Renae), Victoria (Jason), Elijah, Isaac (Haylee), Sophia, and Daniel; 8 great Grandchildren; brothers, John Hubbard and wife, Beth and Jerry Hubbard and wife, Vickie; along with several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Saturday, December 9, 2023 at Pennington Gap Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow with Pastor Paul Davis, Jr. officiating.

A committal service will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, December 10, 2023 at Lee Memorial Gardens with Pastor Paul Davis, Jr. officiating. Serving as pallbearers Norman Gosh, Kevin Young, Jason Brown, Isaac Gallegos, Elijah Gosh, Douglas Sisk, and Daniel Gallegos. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the funeral home at 1:30 PM to go in procession.
