Obituary REV. JIM EWING Rev. Jimmy Don Ewing, Sr., age 81, of Pennington Gap, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 8, 2020 surrounded by his family at Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport, Tennessee after a brief illness. He was born on April 12, 1939. He had been a faithful pastor at the Free Pentecostal Church of God at Pucketts Creek for 55 years. He was retired from the Powell Valley News in Pennington Gap. He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Zuane Ely Ewing, on October 21, 2020; his parents, Paul and Faye Ewing; three brothers, Paul Ewing, Jr., Paulus Ewing and Billy Joe Ewing; his father and mother-in-law, Jess and Mary Cooper Ely; and one brother-in-law, Ezra Ely. He is survived by three sons, Jimmy Ewing, Jr. and wife, Ada of Pennington Gap, Mitch Ewing and wife, Melanie of Jonesville and Barry Ewing and wife, Michele of Duffield; one daughter, Patricia Ewing of the home; six grandchildren, Jessica Daniels and husband, Joshua, Joshua Ewing and Brandon Ewing and wife, Cassie, all of Pennington Gap, Ashley Ewing and Skyler Ewing, both of Jonesville and Dalton Ewing of the home; six great-grandchildren, Rylan, Bethany and Dawson Daniels, Colton Ewing, Journey Stapleton and Ryker Collins; a sister-in-law, Brenda Ewing of Pennington Gap; brother-in-law, Larson Ely and wife, Bess of Arcadia, Indiana; nephew, Kevin Ewing of Kingsport; niece, Paula Audia and husband, Barry and their son, Alan of Pennington Gap; several other nieces and nephews; and his church family. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Thursday at the Free Pentecostal Church of God at Pucketts Creek. A church service will follow at 7 p.m. with Will Parsons officiating. Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in Lee Memorial Gardens at Woodway. Those wishing to go to the cemetery in procession are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10 a.m. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Joshua Ewing, Brandon Ewing, Dalton Ewing and Joshua Daniels and sons, Jimmy Ewing, Mitch Ewing and Barry Ewing.
