Ola Russell, 89, went to be with the Lord on Monday, January 26, 2026, at her home in Jonesville, Virginia.

Ola was born on October 28, 1936 to the late James and Minnie Gregory in Cedar Hill, Virginia. She was a member of Cedar Hill Christian Church. She had been a teacher in the Lee County School system for 35 years spending most of her career at Flatwoods. A member of the Red Hat Society. Her hobbies included quilting, searching flea markets for deals, gardening and working puzzles. She loved to travel, visiting many regions of the world.

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Russell; a brother, JD Gregory Jr; a sister, Kila Gregory.

Those left to cherish her memory is her son, Gary Russell; daughter, Anita Eldridge (Danny); sister, Shirley Ward; grandchildren, Justin Russell (Alisha) and Caitlyn Russell (Justin); great grandchildren, Laynee and Charlee Russell, Brycen and Ryder; Several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm Monday, February 2, 2026, at the Powell Valley Funeral Home with the funeral service following with Pastor Steve Neff officiating. The graveside service will be on Tuesday, the 3rd, at 11am at the Cedar Hill Cemetery. Those that would like to go in procession are asked to meet at the Powell Valley Funeral Home at 10:30 am.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made to either the Cedar Hill Cemetery or the Cedar Hill Christian Church.
