Norma J McMurry born Dec. 12, 1934, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday Feb. 21, 2017. She was proceeded in death by her husband Carl K McMurry, daughter Karen F Ely Johnson and her parents Ira (Rabbit) and Julia Hopkins. She is survived by her son C. Kenneth McMurry, daughters Sharon Kay McMurry and Rebecca McMurry. four grandchildren: Lynn Ely, Jamie Ely, Brook Gowan and Daniel Baldwin, and five great grandchildren: Ethan Ely, Koren Folgesinger, Amilia Wilson , Hannah Wilson and Tristen McKerrow; sisters Emma Hopkins and Janice Frizzell and brothers Bill Hopkins, Bob Hopkins, Paul Dean Hopkins and David 'Dick' Hopkins as well as many nieces and nephews and special friends and neighbors Barb Riggs, Wanda Howell and Ruth Lane. She professed Christ at an early age and was of the Baptist faith. She was a loving wife, mother and friend. She had worked as a farmer, teachers aid, secretary for Hancock County Schools Central office and receptionist for Dr. Robert Luttrell, D.C. The family will receive friends Friday Feb. 24 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Province Funeral Home in Jonesville, VA with funeral service to follow at 7:00 pm. A graveside service will be held 11:00 am Saturday, February 25, 2017 at the McMurry family cemetery in Tazewell, TN.
