Obituary Nancy Flanary Baker, age 90, born 3/19/1932 - 9/8/2022, was preceded in death by parents, Glenn and Margaret Flanary, of Pennington Gap, VA. Nancy was a graduate of Pennington High School and Lincoln Memorial University, majoring in education. Her first teaching job was in Dryden, followed by teaching home economics and biology in St Charles and Pennington Gap, where she also coached the girls basketball teams. During this time Nancy also worked in, and managed, the Flanary Grocery Store in Pennington, prior to, and after, her parents death. She was a member of the Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Jonesville, VA. Anyone who knew Nancy will remember she loved all animals and that she gave generously to help anyone in need. Nancy leaves many close friends and relatives. First cousins, Mary Lou Townsend and brother, Leon Lytle, in Kingsport ,TN, Arthur Cope and friend, Cathy, of Rye Cove, and Kevin Kinkead, Godson of her LMU roommate. Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, September 13 at 11:00 AM at the Holston View Cemetery in Gate City, VA. Funeral arrangements by the Province Funeral Home.
