Matthew "Junior" Smith, age 56 of St. Charles, VA passed away Tuesday evening, January 9, 2024 at his residence after an illness.

He was born August 26, 1967 in Harlan Kentucky and had lived most of his life in Lee Co., VA He loved fishing and spent a lot of time in the mountains looking for ginseng.

He is preceded in death a special aunt: Helen Daniel

Survived by 3 Sons: Benjamin Edgar (Kristi) of Jonesville, VA, Ryan Smith (Hannah Bledsoe) of Pennington Gap, VA and Jacob Smith of Woodway, VA

Grandchildren: Keydon, Grace and Adlee Edgar, Caleb and Logan Smith

Parents: Matthew Sr and Jane Carroll Smith of Pennington Gap, VA

Brother: Robert Smith (Rebecca) Harlan, KY

Nieces: Shay Smith of Pennington and Lexy Smith of Jonesville

Special Aunts: Geneva Brewer of Cawood KY, Mary Ellen Burns of Bledsoe, KY and Tami Huff Corbin KY

Several cousins and a host of other family along with many friends also survive.

In Keeping with his wishes, his body will be cremated and no services are planned.
