Margaret B. Long went to her heavenly home October 31, 2023 at the age of 92.

Margaret was born in Calvin, VA on October 27, 1931 to James R. and Bertie Barker. Margaret was a lifelong resident of Lee County, VA. She was a wonderful Mother, Grandmother and Homemaker. Margaret worked for Cas Walkers in Appalachia, Va and then continued her career at Walmart in Big Stone Gap, VA until she retired. Margaret was an excellent cook, seamstress and she loved to embroider and quilt. She enjoyed working in her flowers and watching the birds. Margaret was of the Christian faith and attended Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Pennington Gap, VA.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years Adolophus D. Long (Dob), parents James R. Barker and Bertie Barker, 2 sons Gregory Paul Long, Arthur Neal Long and one sister Mary Anne Bush.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children Gary L.

Long (Dorothy) Big Hill, VA, Lelia Long Collins (Ben) of Waxhaw, NC, Deborah S. Kilgore of Big Stone Gap, VA, Dawn T. Long of Pennington Gap, VA. Her sisters Ellen Ruth Theobald, Helen Faye Campbell, Myrtle Edens, Betty Jim Hamilton, Naomi McCarty, Brothers, J.D. Barker and Rex Barker. Margaret was blessed with 9 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM on Saturday, November 4, 2023 at Pennington Gap Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow with pastor Alan Collier officiating.

A committal service will follow at Powell Valley Cemetery in Dryden with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
