Obituary

Louie Kenneth (Bud) Garrett, age 91, of Dyden, VA passed away Friday afternoon, September 18, 2026 while at the Lee Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Born in Lee County, VA on June 29, 1935, he was a son of the late Asher and Ressie Mae (Stapleton) Garrett. He was a veteran of the United States Army and was retired after 32 years as a machine tender with Miami Paper. He was a member of the St. Charles First Baptist Church and enjoyed spending his time hunting and fishing. He had a strong passion for trading firearms and sharing stories with family and friends.

Including his parents, he is preceded in death by his spouses; Judy Marie Garrett and Betty Jane Garrett. One sister; Berneda Cooper.

Left to mourn his passing: one daughter and son in law; Teresa and Jeff McCoy and one son and daughter in law; Barry and Ann Garrett. Four grandchildren; Felicia Foulke, Kayla Gibbs, Jessica Sizemore and Brett Garrett. Six great-grandchildren; Eli Foulke, Julie Foulke, Alessia Sizemore, Calum Sizemore, Theodore Gibbs and Bryson Garrett. One brother; J. C. Garrett. Special friends; Nolan Morris and James McPhearson.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, September 26, 2026 from 11 am until 1pm at the Pennington Gap Funeral Home followed by a funeral service with Pastor Paul Davis, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the Lee Memorial Gardens with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
