Obituary

Kenneth Maxwell Davis, Jr. of Rose Hill, VA passed away at home April 18, 2026 surrounded by his loving family.

He was born November 20, 1958, the son of the late Kenneth M and Betty Sue Fee Davis.

He attended Lincoln Memorial University, graduating in December 1990 with a Bachelor's Degree in Animal Science. This degree enabled him to be employed and manage the Lincoln Memorial University stables, where he cared for the horses and helped Vet Tech students with the large animal program. After the equine program was removed from the LMU curriculum, Kenny worked part time at Harrogate Animal Clinic and for Sam Mars at Tiger Mart location in Tennessee.

He worked at Cumberland Gap Provision from 1997 when he began in the packing department on the saw, to later being chosen for a position as Quality Control/Assurance. He held various positions during his time there at Cumberland Gap Provision and through the ownership change to Smithfield Foods where he stayed until 2018.

After he left Smithfield Foods, he had various positions including Patty's Neighborhood Market and his last position at Super Dollar in Rose Hill.

Kenny was a loving husband, father, son, brother, and most of all a wonderful, helpful friend. He was always helping his friends and neighbors with farm work or an animal that needed attention or a sitter.

Kenny was preceded in death by his loving parents, Kenneth and Betty Davis; his brother-in-law Lonnie Collins; his loving sister Joanna Jean Davis Owens; and infant sister Cora Francis Davis.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 36 years, Karen Hood Davis; his son, Kennith Tyler Davis and wife Bryana; and cherished grandson Christopher. Also special extended family members Lonnie and Bryan Oates; two special fur babies, Adele and Clover; four sisters, Eileen Collins, Linda Davis, Rose Mary Hoskins, and Doris Davis; and a brother-in-law Danny Owens. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and many friends.

Visitation will take place at Upper Room Ministries on Sunday, April 26, 2026 from 5 PM to 7 PM with memorial service to follow. Upper Room Ministries is located across from American Rentals and Gose Park Swimming Pool. Old Highway 33 South, New Tazewell, TN 37825.
