June Daynell Gilliam age 90 of Independence, VA and formerly of Sparta, NC and St. Charles, VA was born Wednesday, February 17, 1926 in Imboden, VA to the late James and Sarah (Hall) Holman. She passed away Sunday, November 27, 2016 at the Grayson Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Independence, VA. She had been a homemaker and of the Methodist Faith. In addition to her parents June was preceded in death by her husband Rev. David Reece Gilliam, daughter Sarah Jane Gilliam, seven brothers Edd Barton, Pascal, Connley, Fred, David, Ernest and Harry "Fuzz Holman, two sisters Lilly Johnson and Ruby Gent. June is survived by her granddaughter Madison Teal Gilliam of Jefferson City, TN, special niece Mary Harris and husband, Carol of Elkin, NC and a host of other nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held at 12:00 noon Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at the Province Funeral Home in Pennington Gap, VA. A graveside will follow at the Red Hill Cemetery in Pennington Gap, VA with Paul Davis, Jr. officiating.
