Obituary Joseph "Joe" Wayne Davis was born on Sunday, October 23, 1977, and passed away Sunday, September 23, 2018, following a short illness. Joe was a devoted husband and loving father to his children who were his world and a caring Pop to his twin granddaughters. He was a Correctional Lieutenant with the Federal Bureau of Prisons for 15 years. Working at FCI McDowell, where he was a member of the DCT team, USP Lee and USP McCreary. He also worked for the Virginia Department of Corrections. He was preceded in death by his father Roger Wayne Davis. His paternal grandparents W.M. and Jewell Davis and maternal grandparents J.D. and Virginia King. He is survived by his wife Melissa Davis, one daughter Riley Jo Davis, one son Joshua Wyatt Davis, step-children Shannon and David Saylor and his step-granddaughters Sophie and Alice. His mother Lana Davis, father-in-law and wife, Pete and Marilyn McKnight, his mother-in-law and husband, Billie and Eric Bailey. As well as many loved uncles, aunts, cousins, extended family and friends. Also his brothers and sister in blue at the prisons and his DCT team who meant the world to him. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Friday, September 28, 2018, at the Province Funeral Home in Jonesville, VA. The funeral service will be held at 7:00 PM Friday with Chris Moles doing the service for the family. The Honor Guard from USP Lee will be providing services as well. As per Joes wishes his body will be sent for cremation following the service with burial being at the Marcum Cemetery beside his father at a later date.
