Obituary John Franklin (Jay) Short age 78 of Jonesville, VA was born December 20, 1942 in Jonesville and ran into the arms of the Lord, September 18, 2021 at Claiborne County Medical Center in Tazewell, TN, after a stroke in April. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding motor cycles, 4-wheelers, and his horse Maudie. He was a very big CB fan and was known as Racken Hoss. He was preceded in death by his parents Thomas and Georgia Short, one brother Curtis Short, one sister Patty "Black Eye" Cox and the mother of his children Nettie Short. John is survived by two sons Charlie Short and wife, Pamela of Middlesboro, KY, and Jason Short of Maryland, two daughters Kathy Rouse and husband, Steven of Tazewell, TN, Bobbie Collins and husband, Chris of Rose Hill, VA, five grandchildren Maranda Miles, Autumn Collins, Chasity Rouse, Autumn Short and Hunter Short, two great-grandchildren Aubrey and August Rouse. He is also survived by two brothers Thomas "Buddy" Short of Pennington Gap, VA, William "Doc" Short and wife, Barb of Rose Hill, VA, one sister Oneta "Sissy" Bollinger and husband, George of Versailles, KY. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday, September 23, 2021 at Province Funeral Home in Jonesville, VA with Tim Cress officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM.
