John M. Barber, Sr. age 74 of Jonesville, VA was born Tuesday, August 4, 1942 in Rose Hill, VA and passed away Friday, March 17, 2017 at Lee Health and Rehab in Pennington Gap, VA. He had worked as a Landscaper for Davis Brothers Nursery and he also farmed. John was also a member of the Beech Grove Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents Abraham and Thelma Barber, two grandsons Jeremy and Colton Barber, two sisters and two brothers. John is survived by his wife Mary M. Barber of the home, three sons John Barber, Jr. and wife, Louise of Jonesville, VA, Waylon Barber and wife, Marta of the Flatwoods Community and Johnathan Barber and wife, Billie Kay of Rose Hill, VA, one daughter Alicia Wilson and husband, Jeff of Harlan, KY, eight grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 7:00 PM Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at the Province Funeral Home in Jonesville, VA with Brother Jim Myers and L.J. Ellis officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM Tuesday until the time of the service. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday at the Cedar Hill Cemetery in Jonesville, VA. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:45 AM Wednesday for the service.
