Obituary "I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:" 2 Timothy 4:7 Jerry Dean Murphree age 74 of Jonesville, VA was born December 19th, 1947, in Trussville, AL and passed away September 25, 2022, at the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville, VA. He was a minister that pastored Slackland Baptist Church in Leesburg, AL, Saragossa Baptist Church in Nauvoo, AL, Thompson Settlement Baptist Church in Jonesville, VA and Lone Branch Baptist Church in Jonesville, VA, and was a member at First Baptist Church in Rose Hill, VA. Additionally, he served as Director of Missions for the Powell River Baptist Association in the 1970s. Along with his love for people and teaching them about the love of Jesus, he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He was also known for his enthusiasm and adoration for working on vehicles. He was preceded in death by his parents James and Myrtice Murphree, and one brother, James Lynn Murphree. Jerry is survived by his wife of 50 years, Jacqueline Murphree of the home; two daughters, Rebecca Dawn Cope of Jonesville, VA, and Heather Marie (David) Cheney of Forney, TX; one son, Jared Lee Murphree of Toney, AL; two grandchildren, Aleigha and Cameron Cope, both of Jonesville, VA; one sister, Francis Marie (Ellis) Perrin of Pell City, AL; one sister-in-law, Patricia Murphree, of Church Hill, TN, and a host of extended family and special friends. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM Friday, September 30, 2022, at Province Funeral Home in Jonesville, VA. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM Friday with Rev. Carlos Wolfe, Rev. John Zion, and Bro. Cameron Cope officiating. Burial will follow at Lee Memorial Park West in Rose Hill, VA. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
