Jeffrey Craig Witt, born August 28, 1961, in Harlan, KY and died peacefully at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, NC, surrounded by his family after fighting for 6 weeks in ICU following a double lung transplant. He served in the Army Reserves for 12 years and was a miner operator for 18 and a half years working for various coal companies throughout Kentucky and Southwest Virginia. He is preceded in death by his son Eric Cooper Witt, his father JC Witt, sister Janice Witt Irvin and maternal grandparents. Jeffrey leaves behind his loving wife of 37 years, Mary Middleton Witt, daughter Megatha Witt Gates and fianc Dale Wilson of Rogersville, TN, daughter-in-law Tonya Witt of Tifton, GA, five grandchildren Ethan and Kaden Gates, Dylan Witt, Cole and Gage English, his mother Geneva Witt, one sister Jennifer Witt Garlic and husband, Denny of Corbin, KY and a host of other family and friends.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, December 3, 2017 from 2:00 to 5:00 PM with a memorial service to be held at 5:00 PM with Pastor Chris Bishop of Hope Community Church of Rogersville to officiate.
