Jeff 'Doug' Johnson, age 67 of Baxter, KY was born in Lee County, VA on Friday, February 13, 1948 and passed away on Saturday, August 15, 2015 at the VA Medical Center in Mountain Home, TN. Jeff 'Doug' was a US Army veteran having served in Vietnam and he was also a retired coal miner. He was preceded in death by his parents; Lyle and Lillie Johnson; two brothers, John Johnson and Dean Johnson. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Earlene Johnson of the home; his son, Wallace and wife Robin of Putney, KY; two daughters, Kim and Kelly; three granddaughters, Lexie of Putney, KY, Brittany and Michael of Putney, KY and Shawna and Rocky of Cawood, KY; one great-granddaughter, Ally and three great-grandsons, Hunter, Brody and Braycen; two brothers, James Edward Johnson of Jonesville, VA and Harold Johnson and wife Peggy of Pennington Gap, VA; two sisters, Jean Bledsoe and husband Johnny of York, SC and Sue Bentley and Husband Ray of York, SC. Also several nieces, Nephews and a host of friends. Funeral services will be held at 7:00 P.M. Monday, August 17, 2015 in the Province Funeral Home Sanctuary in Pennington Gap with Rev. Franklin Stewart officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. Monday until time of services. Military graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, August 18, 2015 at the McClure-Chambers Cemetery in Jonesville, VA. Military Rites will be conducted by the local VFW Post #5715 and the national Guard Honors Team. Pallbearers will be Wallace Smith, Jeff Smith, JR Smith, Jerry Freeman, Michael Sutton and Wesley Smith. Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 1:00 P.M.
