James Benjamin Shope age 72 of Jonesville, VA was born Friday, December 22, 1944 in Birmingham, AL and passed away Thursday, July 20, 2017 at his home. He had been a Veteran of the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War and had been a truck driver. He is preceded in death by his wife Audrey Shope, parents Alex Bud Shope and Margaret Camp Shope, three brothers Kenneth Shope, Alfred Shope and Jack Shope. James is survived by his daughters Tina Marie Shope of Middletown, PA, Sheila Ashe of North Carolina, sons James Benjamin Shope, Jr. of Pennsylvania, Christopher Shope of Georgia, Alex Willard Shope of Michigan and Jerry Jay Shope of North Dakota. He is also survived by ten grandchildren, one sister Nancy Shope Komat of Mocksville, NC and numerous nieces and nephews.
