Obituary James David Garrett, age 71 of Pennington Gap, VA, was born Thursday, July 7, 1949 in Lee County, VA and passed away Saturday, January 30, 2021 in Kingsport, TN. He was preceded in death by his wife Mary Ann Garrett, daughters Ramona Garrett and Vicki Garrett, parents Herman and Iris Garrett and brother Jackie Garrett. David was survived by his brother Paul Garrett, daughter Lacy Anderson and her husband Drew Anderson, cousin Bobby Wilson and eight grandchildren, Rumiah Anderson, Anthony Greear, Ainsley Anderson, Selena Alsup and Jason Alsup, as well as other extended family and friends. David was a veteran of The United States Army where he served for two years. He was a licensed Amateur Ham Radio operator with The United States of America Federal Communications Commission. He enjoyed bowling, shooting pool, karaoke and had a love for old cars. At the wishes of Mr. Garrett he has been cremated and a graveside service will be held at a later date.
