Obituary Jackie Earl Carter, age 71, of Pennington Gap, VA was born December 20, 1948 in Benedict, VA and passed away August 31, 2020 in Norton, VA. He worked as a coal miner for many years and retired as an instructor at Lee County Career and Technical School. He enjoyed his past time fishing and loved being with his kids, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in St. Charles, VA. He was preceded in death by his mother and father Lura and Richard Carter; brothers Nolan Carter, Donnie Carter and Burley Carter; sisters Latrina Lay and Billie Ward. Jackie is survived by his wife of 49 years Karen Carter of the home; sons Jamie Carter of Pennington Gap, VA, Brady Carter and wife, Nicki of Abingdon, VA; grandchildren Jasmine Blake and husband, Scott of Gray, TN, Jeremy Carter and wife, Kayla of Elizabethton, TN, Natalie Carter of Abingdon, VA; two great-grandchildren Carter and Cash Blake; brothers Ronnie Carter and wife, Connie of Sevierville, TN, RC Carter and wife, Joyce of Camby, IN; sisters Wilma Jo Kuntzman and husband, Bob of Russellville, TN, Sammie Daniels and husband, Tilmon of Morristown, TN and many extended family and friends. Burial will be at 2:00 PM Friday at Lee Memorial Gardens in Woodway, VA. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery at 1:45 PM for the service.
