Jack "Old Paw" Garrett, 80, of Church Hill, Tennessee formerly of Lee County went to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 6, 2025 at Holston Valley Medical Center.
Jack was born on May 24, 1944 in the Millers Chapel community of Jonesville, Virginia to the late Walter Garrett and Eliza Seabolt Garrett. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. After his time in the service he worked as a heavy equipment operator for several years before his retirement. After his retirement he serviced small engines at his home shop helping many people get their tools, mowers, and chainsaws back running. Jack was a former member of the Hardees Boys in Pennington Gap before becoming a member of the Old Man Breakfast Crew at Randalls Restaurant after his move to Church Hill. Jack was a devoted husband, father, paw, brother, uncle, and friend.
Along with his parents he is preceded in death by his brothers, Rondle Garrett and Junior Garrett; sisters, Lois McNeil and Betty Mullins.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 58 years, Brenda Garrett; daughter, Michelle Fisher and husband Steve; grandson, Garrett Fisher and wife Emalee; bonus grandson, Trystan Brown; sisters, Helen Marcum and Linda Neeley and husband Bill; special nephew and breakfast buddy, Brian Garrett and wife Olivia; along with several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Thursday, March 13, 2025 at Pennington Gap Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow with Pastor Jimmy Ewing officiating.
A committal service will follow at Lee Memorial Gardens with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
The family would like to express a special thank you to Hawkins County EMS and Church Hill Rescue Squad.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Jack's memory to Church Hill Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 704, Church Hill, Tennessee 37642.
