Isaac "Jimmie" Briggs age 88 of Jonesville, Va., previously of Unicoi, Tn. went to be with the Lord on Monday, August 3, 2026. Jimmie was a selfless person and giver by nature. Jimmie was a dedicated husband and father. He served in various capacities through his life such as a deacon in Unicoi Freewill Baptist Church, but he wanted to be simply known as a follower of Christ.
Jimmie is preceded in death by his parents Ike and Bessie Briggs, loving wife, Novella Briggs, and brother, Roger "Doots" Briggs.
Jimmie is survived by his sons: Mitch (Michelle) Briggs, and Marcus Briggs, brother: Gerald (Sally) Briggs, sister: Lorraine(Alan) Williams, grandchildren: Kelly Coller ,Amber King, and Baylee Briggs, great-grandchildren: Evan Coller, Emma Coller, Lilly King, Elijah King, and Noah King, and several nieces and nephews
The family would like to extend their thanks to a few special people who were dedicated to the care of Jimmie. Firstly, his granddaughter Baylee Briggs who visited almost daily, took him to doctors appointments, and cleaned his home. Jimmie would often say, "She was instrumental to his daily care". Next, a special friend and workmate of 50 years Danny " Hogie" Sutton whose visits would bring Jimmie a tremendous amount of laughter, and joy.
A graveside service for Jimmie will be held at the Swingle Cemetery 220 Swingle Road Unicoi, Tn 37692 at 2:00pm Thursday, August 6, 2026 with Rev. Todd Mclaughlin, and Pastor Adam G. Wolfe officiating those wishing to attend the service are asked to arrive at 1:50pm. Pallbearers will be selected form friends and family
