Irene Thomas, age 91, of Pennington Gap, VA, passed away on May 6, 2026 at Lee County Community Hospital in Pennington Gap, VA.
Irene was born on August 23, 1934 to the late Rosie and Wright Stewart. She had been a homemaker most of her life.
She was preceded in death by her Husband, Jack Thomas; Son Dwight Thomas; Grandson Anthony Stapleton.
She is survived by her Daughter, Diane Stapleton (Jimmy); Son, Tim Thomas (Tracy); Brother, Orville Stewart (Mansville, Ohio); Sisters, Dorothy Carter, Ann Garloffa, Angel Sturgill and Judy Collier.
Grandchildren, Jason Stapleton (Angela), Barbara Ann Thomas & T.J. Thomas; great grandchildren, Caitlyn Stapleton and Calie Thomas.
She also had a host of good friends, including Shirley McKinney who was the oldest.
A special thanks to Carolyn Cooper for all her love and support.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, May 8, 2026 at Robbins Chapel Cemetery at 1:00 pm with Pastor Leonard Lane officiating. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery by 12:30 pm.
