Obituary Howard Edward Smith, age 63, of Jonesville, was born on February 12, 1959 and passed away Friday, June 24, 2022 at Bristol Regional Hospital after a brief illness. He was a 1978 graduate of Pennington High School and a retired coal miner. He enjoyed 4-wheeling. His greatest pleasure was playing with his granddaughters, Addison and Harper. He was of the Baptist faith and loved the Lord. He was preceded in death by his parents, Baylor and June Smith; one brother, Johnny Smith; and his father-in-law, Jim Pridemore. e is survived by his wife of 30 years, Gail Holloway Smith of the home; two daughters, Courtney Blair and husband, Ray of Jonesville and Sydni Smith of the home; two granddaughters, Addison and Harper Blair; and a grandson due in August; three sisters, Brenda Morrison of Johnson City, Tennessee, Janice York and husband, Edward of Whitestown, Indiana, and Jackie Davis and husband, Lonnie of Sheridan, Indiana; three brothers, Bill Smith and wife, Rachel of Pennington Gap, Henry Smith and wife, Donha of Noblesville, Indiana and Wayne Smith and wife, Norma Jean of Rogersville, Tennessee; his mother-in-law, Patsy Pridemore of Pennington Gap; sister-in-law, Melanie Ewing and husband, Mitch, who was Howards best friend and partner in crime, of Jonesville; special nephew, Jimmy Bryant and wife, Christa of Richmond, Kentucky; and many other nieces and nephews, family and friends. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Thursday at the Province Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. from the funeral home chapel with Josh Leonard officiating. Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the Family Cemetery in the Fleenortown Community of Jonesville. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. to go in procession to the cemetery. Pallbearers will be Mitch Ewing, Ray Blair, Bill Smith, Henry Smith, Jimmy Bryant and Doug Blakley. Province Funeral Home of Pennington Gap is in charge of the arrangements.
