Henry Shoemaker, age 76, of Pennington Gap, VA was born in Harlan, KY on Monday, May 23, 1938 and passed away on Friday, April 17, 2015 at the Lonesome Pine Hospital in Big Stone Gap, VA. Henry was a retired coal miner and was of the Penticostal faith. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Birdie Blevins Shoemaker; four brothers, Obie, Orbin, Jim and Esco Shoemaker; two sisters, Deloris Eldrige and Redella Bray; one brother-in-law, Boone Burton. He is survived by the mother of his children, Geneva Shoemaker; two sons, Paul Shoemaker of Duffield, VA and Rick Shoemaker of Dryden, VA; three grandsons, Joshua Rick, Paul William and Jacob Brice Shoemaker. He is also survived by one brother, John Shoemaker and three sisters, Billie Sue Burton, Pauline Scott and husband Earnest and Mary Magaline Welborn; also several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 7:00 P.M. Tuesday, April 21, 2015 in the Province Funeral Home Sanctuary in Pennington Gap, VA with Mark Tabor officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. Tuesday until time of services. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, April 22, 2015 at Pennington memorial Cemetery on Rt. 421 in Pennington Gap. Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday to go to the cemetery. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
