Helen Penley, 84, of Jonesville, Virginia, passed away on January 3, 2025 in Chardon, Ohio.

Helen was born on November 3,1940 in Frederick, Maryland. At the age of 3, she and her family moved to Jonesville, where her parents owned and operated Russell Furniture Store. Helen moved to Northeast Ohio briefly where she worked various jobs, including as a dispatcher for the Lake County Sheriff's Office and Mentor Printing (owned and operated by her then husband Don Walker).

In, 1977, Helen married Ken Penley Sr. and moved back to Jonesville, where she and Ken became the owners and operators of Russell Furniture Store. In addition to selling furniture, Helen was very passionate and skilled at refinishing all types of furnishings.

Helen was a loving and caring wife, mother, daughter, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend; she will be sadly missed.

Helen is survived by her daughter Teresa S. Bobbitt (Michael), stepson Ken Penley Jr., grandchildren Shane Pierce (Sarah), Ronald Nichols, Joshua Bobbitt (Kayla) and Brandon Bobbitt (Taylor), great grandchildren Sage Nichols, Cassandra Nichols, Vance Nichols, Christian Nichols, Ariah Bobbitt, Carsten Bobbitt, Lyon Bobbitt and Braden Bobbitt.

Helen was preceded in death by Ken Penley Sr. (husband), Ray Russell and Fern Austin (parents), Roberta Woodie (sister, Archie), Byron Walker (son), and Thomas Nichols (grandson).

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, January 10, 2025 at Russell Hillside Cemetery in Jonesville, Virginia. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery by 10:50 AM.
