Hazel Faye Stapleton age 83 of Keokee, VA was born in Keokee on Tuesday, May 9, 1933 and passed away Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at the Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport, TN. She retired as a school teacher and was of the Pentecostal Faith, a member of the Carters Memorial Church in the Robbins Chapel Community and she also attended the Charity Baptist Church and Bethesda Church. She was preceded in death by her husband Paul Stapleton, parents Elmer and Edith Carter, a brother Phillip Carter, sisters Bessie Parsons and Irene Brown and best friend Ester Robbins. Hazel is survived by two sons Chester Stapleton and wife, Patricia of Blountville, TN and Christopher Stapleton and wife, Rebecca of Big Stone Gap, VA, two daughters Janet Allen and husband, Don of London, KY and Karen Shirks and husband, Shawn of Keokee, VA. Hazel is also survived by four grandchildren Jeremy Allen and wife, Samantha, Jordan Allen, Christopher Stapleton III and Elizabeth Stapleton, two grand god children Cameron Garrett and Chelsea Garrett, one brother James Carter and wife, Opal of Dryden, VA, one sister Ruth Kirk of Dayton, OH, several nieces and nephews including Naomi, Shirley and Kristie. Visitation will be from 5:00 until 8:00 PM Saturday, May 14, 2016 at the Province Funeral Home Sanctuary in Pennington Gap, VA with Paul Davis, Jr. and Greg Carmony officiating. A funeral service will be held at 5:00 PM Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Lee Memorial Gardens in Woodway, VA.
