Today we celebrate the life of Grace Irene Bailey, 86, of Jonesville who went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 17, 2025. Irene was a loving Mother, Wife, and woman of faith who loved to laugh and live life with her family. She was a woman who always put GOD and family first and she proved it to everyone. She was a founding member of the Faith Baptist Church of Jonesville, Va.

Irene was born July 26th, 1938 to the late Robert and Vinia Huff Bailey. She lived in Bledsoe, Ky until she was 8 years old and moved to Stone Creek, Va. where she graduated from St. Charles HS in 1957. She then married John J. Bailey (Joey) in 1962 and moved to Jonesville, Va. where she spent the rest of her life. She worked years at Bailey's Exxon and the family farm, Then put in 15 years at the Lee County Community Hospital. One of her greatest joys was being a foster grandparent at Flatwoods Elementary School for many years.

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Joey Bailey; her brothers, Harley, Herb, Homer, Earl, and George; her sisters, Opal Cox, Agnes Bailey, Lorene Jones, and Christine Kirk.

Her surviving family are her Three sons, David (Marlena) Bailey of the Villages, FL, Scott (Linda) Bailey of Jonesville, Va., and Rex (Paige) Bailey of Jonesville, Va; She also has one granddaughter, Lindsey (Loghan Dye) Bailey of Jonesville Va.; step grandchildren, Josh Fleenor and Louie Goodman; and Lindsey's beautiful daughters Jewelie and Jaelynn; and brother, Clark Bailey of Woodway, Va.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Saturday, June 21, 2025 at Powell Valley Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow with Pastor Mickey Gibson officiating.

A committal service will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, June 22, 2025 at Lee Memorial Gardens in Woodway, Virginia. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the funeral home at 1:00 PM to travel in procession. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
