Gladys Marie Eckles, age 87 of St. Charles, VA was born on Saturday, September 8, 1928 in St. Charles and went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, September 26, 2015 at the Norton Community Hospital in Norton, VA. She was a homemaker that loved shopping, Cooking and working with flowers. She was of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Eckles; her parents, John and Molly Burgan; one son, John Issac Eckles; two sisters, Eula Faye Ewing and Della May Baker and one brother, Phillip Wayne Carter. She is survived by one son, Elmer Eckles Jr of St, Charles, VA; five daughters, Freda Eddelman of Mt. Pleasant, SC; Edna Webb of St. Charles, VA; Saundra Tester and husband Roger of Pennington Gap, VA; Peggy Eckles of Pennington Gap, VA and Rhonda Sizemore and husband Charles of Sneedville, TN; nine grandchildren, Justin Eckles, Jimmy Bailey, Shannon Birt, Roger Tester, Teresa Adams, Ronnie Carter, Laura Kinser, Christina Crews and Sarah Eddelman; nine great-grandchildren and two great great-grandchildren.; one sister, Mary Bryant of St, Charles, VA; also lots of nieces, nephews and a host of friends. Funeral services will be held at 7:00 P.M. Tuesday, September 29, 2015 in the Province Funeral Home Sanctuary in Pennington Gap with Roy Webb and Paul Davis Jr officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. Tuesday until time of services. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, September 30, 2015 at Lee Memorial Gardens in Woodway, VA. Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday to go to the cemetery. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
