Fred Junior Parsons was born on April 22, 1949 and departed this world on May 23, 2015 at 5:43 P.M. at the age of 66 in the comfort of his home. Fred was a long standing Deacon of Victory Freewill Baptist Church in Jonesville, VA and was the adult sunday school teacher for 31 years. He was a member of the UMWA and he had retired from the Town of Pennington Gap in 2014. Fred was preceded in death by his father, Fred Parsons and mother, Mabel Lewis Parsons of Pennington Gap, VA and brother, Roger Parsons of Pennington Gap, VA. He is survived by his wife, Wilma Faye Parsons of the home, son Chris and wife Jessica Parsons of the Hickory Flats Community, son Jason and wife Madeline Parsons of Kingsport, TN, daughters Haley and Ashley Parsons of the home, granddaughters Kaitie Davis of Keokee, VA and Aliyah Parsons of the Hickory Flats Community, his brothers Jimmy and wife Donna Parsons of Woodway, VA and Earl Parsons of Woodway, VA, also special caregiver Connie Garrett of the Sugar Run Community. He is also survived by a large extended family and loving church family. Visitation will be held from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, May 26, 2015 in the Province Funeral Home Sanctuary in Pennington Gap with Bill Moore and Don Jones officiating. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at the Victory Freewill Baptist Church in Jonesville, VA. Fred will be taken to the church 1 hour before services Wednesday. Burial will follow at the Powell Valley Cemetery in Dryden, VA. Pallbearers will be Jason Parsons, Chris Parsons, Jimmy Parsons, Earl Parsons, Tommy Cochran, Lowell Edwards, Nichael Pennington and Jeff Martin.
