Eugene Raymond Lovell, a beloved resident of Rose Hill, VA, departed this life on Tuesday, August 5th, 2025, at the age of 84. Born in the heart of Kentucky on Saturday, February 22nd, 1941, Eugene embraced life with a steadfast dedication that touched the hearts of everyone who knew him.
Eugene enjoyed horseshoes, bingo, bluegrass music, Karaoke, flatfooting, an avid viewer of Fox News, and he had all of his favorite westerns memorized.
Eugene is preceded in death by his cherished parents, Benjamin Alrick Lovell and Pauline Lovell Boggs, and brother, Tommy Lovell.
For many years, Eugene contributed to the backbone of America as a coal miner, working tirelessly in a demanding profession that fueled his community and provided for his family. Eugene was of the Pentecostal faith
Beyond his professional endeavors, Eugene was known for his warm, inviting nature and his ability to share a story that could ignite a room with laughter and camaraderie. He will be remembered for his genuine kindness and the warmth of his friendships that spanned generations.
Eugene is survived by his loving wife, Darlene Amelia Campbell-Lovell; sons, Randy Lovell, Brian Lovell, James Lovell, Greg (Tabatha) Lovell, Jason Campbell, and James Campbell; daughters, Lesa Marie(Junior) Boggs, Julia (Chris) Coomer, Misti Campbell,and Eugenia "Tori" (Kevin) Lovell-Noel; sister, Carolyn Mellon as well as many special grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and special puppy "Ginger" and countless friends and loved ones who cherished his companionship . His legacy of love, integrity, and determination leaves an indelible mark on the hearts of those who had the honor of knowing him.
A private Graveside Service will be held at the Bartley Family Cemetery.
The family of Eugene Raymond Lovell would like to thank Dr. Jill Couch family care physician, Dr. Coen, and Dr. Khetpal from the cancer center, and Ashley from Caris hospice for their steadfast care of Mr. Lovell.
