Ella Marie Smith age 89 of Dryden, VA was born in Wise County, VA on Thursday, May 20, 1926 and passed away at her home on Wednesday, December 9, 2015. She was a homemaker and a member of the St. Charles Church of God. She was preceded in death by her husband Ralph Smith, a daughter Carolyn Underwood and her parents William Christopher and Francis (Moore) Henley and daughter-in-law Wilma Dean Smith. Ella is survived by a son William 'Bill' Smith of Big Stone Gap, VA, four daughters Linda Davis and husband, Ralph, Doris Martin and husband, Larry, Treasa Smith and husband, Alfred and Elizabeth Smith all of Dryden, VA, and a son-in-law Dennis Underwood of Wise, VA. She is also survived by eighteen grandchildren Victoria, Steve, Jeremy, Marty, Lora, Scottie, Ray, David, Gary Jr., Christina, Katherine, Karri, Dennis Lee, Nicole, Eddie, Bryan, Sydney and Tristan, thirteen great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren, one sister Della Smith of Big Stone Gap, VA, one brother Emory Henley and wife, Jean of Nashville, TN, her faithful companion Angel and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, December 11, 2015 at the Province Funeral Home Sanctuary in Pennington Gap, VA with Roy Webb, Paul Davis, Jr. and Mike Rife officiating. Burial will follow at Powell Valley Memorial Gardens in Big Stone Gap, VA. Visitation will be from 12:00 noon Friday until the time of the service.
