Edward "Ed" Lewis Standifer was born in Lee County, VA on Monday, August 8, 1949 and went to be with the Lord on Friday, October 13, 2017. He passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family after a long battle with serious health issues. Ed was a retired coal miner and farmer. He worked for Powell Mountain Coal Company. He is preceded in death by his parents Bonnie and Raymond Standifer. His ex in laws Shirley and Vernon Morefield whom he loved dearly. He is survived by loving ex-wife Kay Standifer of Woodway, VA. His two children Brian Standifer and wife Celeste and daughter Anissa Middleton and husband Keith all of Flatwoods, VA. He has three grandsons he loved dearly Chris Standifer and girlfriend Ashley, Kasey Standifer and girlfriend Conner all of Flatwoods, VA and Joshua Laws of Woodway, VA. He had one special great grandson Cayden Standifer of St. Charles, VA and very special child he loved dearly Tucker Wayne. He had four brothers Ray Standifer and wife Barb of Rose Hill, VA, John Standifer and wife Kathy, Richard Standifer and wife Ginger all of Flatwoods, VA, Billy Lee Standifer of Jonesville,VA. Four sisters Junie Mae Carnes of Pennington Gap, VA, Sue Sweeney, Mary Osborne and Nancy Mullins and husband Henry all of Jonesville, VA. He also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends. A funeral service will be held at 7:00 PM Sunday, October 15th at the Province Funeral Home in Jonesville, VA will Paul Davis Jr. officating. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM Sunday until the time of the service. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM Monday at the Snavely Cemetery in Pennington Gap.
